Speculation
editI erased a part about someone writing about speculation. There was no source for the information and it appeared as though the editor of that section was attempting to "read Colt Brennan's mind". Also, they spelt his name wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.234.119.247 (talk) 21:03, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Colt's Real Name

Felony Convictions and Sexual Assault Allegations
editThere should be more in the article about the incident at University of Colorado, Boulder in which Colt was dismissed from the team for burglary, criminal trespass and alleged sexual assault of a female student in a dorm room. Colt was found guilty of second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal trespass resulting from the alleged sexual assault. A jury also found him guilty of unlawful sexual contact, according to The New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/26/sports/ncaafootball/26hawaii.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1). A judge dismissed the unlawful sexual contact charge three months later. The information in the article about this incident is misplaced and too brief. The felony convictions and sexual assault charges belongs in its own section or under the section "Personal". It is incorrect to classify second degree burglary and first degree criminal trespass as part of "College Career". I think the seriousness of three felony convictions (one dismissed) merits more discussion than pass completion percentage. NationalPark (talk) 06:22, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- So are you saying we should tailor the whole article around a conviction from several years ago? I think it would be acceptable to mention it (along with proper citation so that inquiring minds can easily find details), I this edit. --Bobak (talk) 16:34, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Not tailor the article around it but devote a large portion to it. That incident and related convictions have defined Colt's football career and life to this point. Its the biggest part of his story to this point. To hide it away under a small subsection about his "football career" lacks proper perspective.
- For example, it would be wrong to edit the OJ Simpson article and put 15 paragraphs about his football accomplishments and then just a couple of sentences about his accusation of murder. Or go to John Daly's article and barely mention his struggles with alcohol. Or edit Marion Jones article to say very little about her conviction on steroid charges. Or edit Kobe's article to minimize the sexual assault charges against him. We can use these other articles as a guide for how much to devote to the sexual assault trial and two felony convictions in his young athletic career. For Colt Brennan's article I would suggest at minimum a titled section devoted to his legal issues. Considering his relatively brief career and accomplishments compared to Kobe et al, and the fact that he was found guilty by jury on three charges (Kobe was acquitted), a full third of the article should be about the legal problems and convictions while a football player at U of Col. Someone else can write or if its not done soon then I will add it myself. Please take a look at other articles regarding athletes and felony convictions for examples of proper scope.NationalPark (talk) 05:11, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Also concerning the guilty plea: I have read specifically that he pleaded guilty to the two minor charges and was found guilty by a jury of "Unlawful Sexual Contact" but that was later dismissed by the judge. According to Brennan he was intoxicated and doesn't remember what happened. "I don't think I touched the girl," Brennan said Friday. "The only thing I know is that night I acted inappropriately and didn't leave when I should have." See "http://starbulletin.com/2005/06/26/sports/story1.html" for one reference. Other sources state that he pleaded guilty to the unlawful sexual contact but does not say his specific plea on the other charges. Another source syas "Although a judge threw out a sexual assault charge, Brennan pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and burglary " http://www.ajc.com/wireless/content/sports/uga/stories/2007/12/27/bowlbrennan_1228.html Also notice that every article in the media devotes a large portion of the article to his legal troubles. This article should follow suit. I believe his fans are trying too hard to sweep that under the rug in this article.NationalPark (talk) 05:24, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

- I've added it. There's no reason you couldn't have given that you had a source to cite. -- Pemilligan (talk) 02:17, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Statistics Table
editWhat is going on with the "College Statistics" table on this page?
By reading the table, he has 267 interceptions on his running plays and gained a total of 15 rushing yards throughout his 3 years at Hawaii. That is pants-on-head ridiculous.
Based on Sports-Reference.com he has over 500 yards of rushing.
The entire chart makes zero sense. What is passing for "Season", and "Team"? Why are they incredibly different despite him only playing for Hawaii during these years? 2603:9001:1000:18C:794E:E506:E722:22D5 (talk) 19:18, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
- Looking at it even futher... he threw for 159.8 touchdown passes in his third year at Hawaii. What is .8 of a touchdown?
- He threw for 155.5 in his first year.
- 186 in his second year.
- 159.8 in his third year.
- Grand total of 167.6 touchdowns. Math doesn't matter anymore. 2603:9001:1000:18C:794E:E506:E722:22D5 (talk) 19:27, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
