editI am wondering at what point (and how) it is appropriate to remove the "primary sources" box from this page? I have edited the page to add a number of secondary sources, and I believe the primary sources that are included follow Wikipedia's primary source policy in that they "report factual material" and are not stated in a manner that "presents interpretation" of the fact. Any guidance would be appreciated.Lakis Polycarpou (talk) 21:33, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Citations cleanup
editHello. As part of a citations cleanup run (WP:WikiProject_Citation_cleanup) I encountered this article which needed a lot of work. A number of citations were bare urls (see WP:BAREURL), which were now converted to cite web. Important aspects to store are the original article title, date, author and publisher (optionally also the access date). This allows to in the future search for archives of the same citation if the URL eventually becomes inaccessible. We also have a robot which can in many cases automatically detect dead URLs of the proper format and substitute the links by archive.org ones. Of course this cannot work with bare urls. There also were various redundant citations which were merged (they can be referenced using the name tag).
There is another aspect which needs work, which I have not addressed at this time. It concerns all the various "Columbia Water Center: Research Themes" citations. Some may be redundant but others may simply be misnamed. The title parameter of the cite-web template is what is displayed in the footnote reference list.
