editI created this article, because of a perceived lack of one. I now know there is an article about at least its predecessor under the name Boer Commando. I blame the wikipedia search engine wich failed repeatedly to give me any article about it under various combinationa and spelling of the term. Maybe they should be merged, maybe the should concentrate on in one hand the system in its later days and in the other on the original, exclusive boer commando´s. That of course depends on f.e. how the system worked in the modern days and its modern history. Political reasons for its disbandment could be part of it and an overview of differing views on that. Removed sentence clause which didn't make sense.
editThis is the part I removed: "presumably referring to the clause which requires special presidential permission to be granted before ." Before what? Military action? This is the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=South_African_Commando_System&diff=509809212&oldid=507471675 --86.5.226.63 (talk) 18:26, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Commando Units
editThe Commandos were not a "voluntary, part-time force of the South African Army, but served under the South African Police Service." They were partly conscripted, and often included national servicemen (not part time), and did not serve under the police.Royalcourtier (talk) 05:41, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi.... is there any intention of adding the individual Commandos and their history up until their disbandment as proposed in the "Commando" wikipedia page?AndreaFurness (talk) 03:25, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
History
editThere is a big gap in the history between the Boer War and the disbandment. The commandoes as known in the 1980's and 90's were only established in the 1950s'. Anyone keen to add more details?125.237.105.102 (talk) 02:37, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
