Correct translation of VONS
editThe name of the organisation should be rendered in English as 'Committee for the Defence/Defense of the Unjustly Prosecuted' [not persecuted]. Although the two words are similar in English, they are quite different in Czech. When active, VONS reported on the illegal prosecution of political, religious and other activists. The Czech word for 'persecuted' is 'pronasledovani', and the Czech for 'prosecuted' is 'stihanny'. The S at the end of VONS is the first letter of the word 'stihanny' Following the link from this article to the VONS website will verify what the VONS acronym stands for 62.25.109.196 (talk) 15:26, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
