editWhy is this computer listed in the CBM hardware category and not the home/personal-computer category? --AndersL 23:09, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- it was never released so very few persons ever had one in their homes —Preceding unsigned comment added by Petchboo (talk • contribs) 02:40, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
This page: http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/firmware/computers/c65/index.html contains newest C65ROM-911001patched.bin from 2005-09-08 that replaces unwanted huge Basic program with simple dropper to built-in monitor, because there was need to presence of some BASIC program, without which this ROM crashed at boot. Commodore should have
editmade the 65. they could have created a continuing 8 bit market for hobbyist programming and demo scene use —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.125.110.223 (talk) 16:24, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, that sentiment may be the basis for an article unto itself: Commodore's Catastrophic Lack of Direction. There were, of course, a number of problems with Commodore's lack of direction, and not all of them were technical in nature. Some if not most of them began with clueless executives in upper management that didn't even use the computer they put on the market. Cheating on environmental issues while polluting, is just a side issue. Dexter Nextnumber (talk) 21:54, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Check out mega65.com for a Commodore 65 type open source clone, an attempt to make a Commodore 65 type computer using modern tech. Orion Blastar (talk) 06:41, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
Accessing the pair of SID chips
editWhere were the pair of SID chips mapped? Was one of them still at $D400-D41F? Where was the other one mapped? Or were they multiplexed in and out of the same address by fiddling with address $01? Dexter Nextnumber (talk) 20:40, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- According to the C65 manual, the right one is at $D400 and the left one is at $D440. If you want to know anything else about the C65, read that manual, it's a goldmine of info. Devil Master (talk) 21:47, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. Do you know if the manual could be uploaded to Wikisource?
- Was there still RAM under I/O, like on the C-64? Dexter Nextnumber (talk) 21:47, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
