The contents of the Suriname Toad page were merged into Common Surinam toad. For the contribution history and old versions of the redirected page, please see its history; for the discussion at that location, see its talk page. |
But it wasn't a canonical merger. This page used to be about the genus, so I sent it to Pipa (genus); most of the content here is from the old Suriname Toad which was functionally the species page. 4pq1injbok (talk) 14:16, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
It is described in the top description as being threatened by habitat loss, yet it is in the least concern category in the displayed graph. I think this sentence should therefore be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.171.162.195 (talk) 13:06, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
It might be useful to include that the females don't die after giving birth. I don't have any individually reliable looking sources, but my cursory search on Google supports me.

mating
editThe old page [1] made more clear the male's "movements" and egg fertilization. --96.233.93.162 (talk) 00:12, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Kite
edit"Pipa" means kite in Portuguese. This is where the name comes from. Jgsodre (talk) 18:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Conservation Status
editIn the introductory paragraph it says that Suriname toads are threatened by habitat loss, but in the chart on the right it lists the toad as "least concern." Is this a problem? York12321 (talk) 00:12, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
Description
editThe spelling of the name switches suddenly from "Surinam" to "Suriname" in the Description paragraph. If there is a reason for this, it should be made clear (for example - if I might offer a fictitious-as-far-as-I-know reason: "note that Suriname and Surinam are both acceptable phonetic transcriptions of the name"). If there is no reason and it is a typo, it should be corrected. I do not know enough about the subject matter to offer an opinion one way or the other; my comment is offered purely as that of a confused layperson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.220.124.148 (talk) 21:23, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Peer Review Edits and Comments
editGreat start to the frog entry! I revised the entry by reordering and combining sections on the Wikipedia page to make reading easier to follow. I also revised the information in the "Habitat and Distribution" section by removing redundant words and sentences in order to make the section more concise. With regards to the frog's behavior and diet, it would be greatly beneficial if a discussion on the frog's predators and predatory defense was introduced. Describing specific conservation methods to counter habitat loss in the conservation section would also improve the content of the frog entry. Hoonji2022 (talk) 21:18, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
Peer Review
editThis animal is super interesting, and I think the Wikipedia page was easy to read and understand. Overall, it is a great article.
I revised the entry by reordering and recombining sections on the Wikipedia page. Previously, the Wikipedia page had Behavior section with 3 subsections: Feeding, Reproduction, and Mating Competition. However, considering the length of these subsections, I thought that they could all be independent sections. After the revision, the Wikipedia page has 3 new sections: Feeding Behavior, Reproduction, and Mating. And the Mating section has Male/male interactions as a subsection (originally Mating Competition).
I also revised the information in the Male/male interactions subsection by rewording some of the sentences in order to enhance the grammatical flow of the subsection.
One suggestion to improve the Wikipedia page would be adding more information in the Mating section. I found a useful source that can potentially be used to add more information about the mating behavior and egg-laying behavior: https://doi.org/10.2307/1439751.

Overall, this page is in excellent shape! This species is very interesting, especially its reproductive habits. I made some minor edits only. I rearranged the order of some paragraphs in order for the information to be presented in a more organized manner. I also added a few links to other Wikipedia pages. --Sophieeichler (talk) 23:08, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
