American counter culture communes, and criticisms.
editSurely due to wiki lawyering, and pwnership of the article by dishonest commune pwners this article has very little on the very well documented American counterculture "commune" movement, or it's criticisms. Notably the tendency of those "communes" to wind up as havens of prostitution, white slavery, organized crime, and drugs. Documented by Actor Peter Coyote in his multi episode PBS documentary on the counter culture, of which he was a noted leader, some "communes" imposed "rules" of sexual availability upon everyone but which focused on pressuring young women to be available. This led to some "communes" being taken over by Hell's Angels, and organized crime as brothels. Some "communes" were taken over by members who with bullying, manipulation, and intrigue imposed "rules" that made them pwners of "the pot" into which everyone put their income. The pwners shopped for the group but fed the group beans while the shoppers ate whatever they wanted. One group had land donated to the group but the pwners who dominated the group made "rules" that were so tyrannical to the group that the group disbanded leaving the pwners to have themselves declared legal owners. This article uses some phrases, and apologia that are so identical to ones used by current "commune" pwners in the Peter Coyote documentary I suspect some of it was written/edited butchered, by some people who were in the documentary. The pattern of counter culture "communes" was often consistent with the pattern of broader world communism of tyranny, belligerence to critics, violence, and corruption. Naturally this information is opposed by current pwners, and owners of "communes", and former "communes" in spite of the fact that American counter culture "communes" are the most well documented, and criticized, of the small "commune" movement. The corruptible "rules" of wikipedia, and their imposition is very similar to the "rules", and their imposition in many communist societies, and small "communes". So people well educated in research, and writing won't participate in wikipedia because they might be willing to answer published "challenges" to what they write they won't answer "challenges" from every idiot on the planet. So wikipedia is being written by any idiot, and every organized cheat, on the planet. This article is so exemplary of this, and I intend to point it out as an example in my future published writings, as illustrative of the results of the corruption of wikipedia, and communism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.164.71.229 (talk) 08:57, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
Merge into Intentional community
editMultiple sources tell me that Intentional community is the new widely used term for a commune. I do not register any difference.--Geysirhead (talk) 06:26, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
"The nomenclature indicates this in the nearly ubiquitous shift from "commune" to "intentional community" at the turn of the 21st century, which distinguishes these projects from associations with leftist politics, drugs, free love, and anarchy ..." [1]
"Among the more neutral terms intentional community is the most commonly used today, although the general public still prefers commune..."[2]

Like Utopian community, Commune seems to be a contaminated term for an intentional community, which nobody wants to call their community anymore.--Geysirhead (talk) 07:20, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- I'm amenable. The only main distinction between the terms, to my understanding, is that "commune" may more often denote an intentional community organized for an explicitly political purpose. But the two are so often used interchangeably, I would be curious if anyone has enough sourcing to warrant a dedicated, separate article on political intentional communities/communes apart from the general article on intentional communities. I would think that such a separate article would more likely be a list (list of anarchist communities) than an article about "political intentional communities" writ large. czar 17:05, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
