Requested Move
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: page not moved. Discussion below supports a merge instead. - GTBacchus(talk) 15:21, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Como Zoo, Saint Paul, Minnesota → Como Zoo — Name needs to be shorter. Downtown0013 (talk • contribs) 02:13, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Agree that name should be changed. However, not to shorten. The official name on the Web site is "Como Park Zoo & Conservatory", which is what we should use. Donlammers (talk) 04:52, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Comment - Furthermore, there is another (pre-existing) article about the zoo, entitled Como Park, Zoo, and Conservatory. --Orlady (talk) 18:45, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Oppose: the title would suggest that the zoo was in Como. Ian Spackman (talk) 09:17, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- And here I just assumed that it was named after someone named Como. Names, where possible should match the official name. The location should be stated in the first paragraph to avoid confusion. Donlammers (talk) 13:01, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Oppose as there is no rule calling for articles to have the shortest possible name. Unless the length of the name causes confusion, there is no benefit to a shorter name. Accuracy and ease of access for users is the standard for determing article names.AaronTheTypoWarrior (talk) 07:55, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Merge into Como Park, Zoo, and Conservatory and redirect this page. --Orlady (talk) 18:45, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Oppose move per WP:GOOGLE results below. Support merge into Como Park, Zoo, and Conservatory, though apparently the official name does not use commas. --Born2cycle (talk) 20:53, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
Google hits
editI was going to support the move, but then I consulted WP:GOOGLE.
- About 43,600 results (0.16 seconds) for "como zoo"
- About 607,000 results (0.28 seconds) for "Como Park Zoo and Conservatory"
Pretty clear "Como Zoo" is not the most common name. --Born2cycle (talk) 20:53, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: page moved to Como Zoo. Consensus this time seemed to indicate a move, although Zoo at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory was deemed unsuitable (perhaps because of redundancy). Miniapolis 14:24, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
Como Zoo, Saint Paul, Minnesota → Zoo at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory – It would make the main focus of the page clear while relating the article to the organization that it is apart of. Move should also be made off of move per WP:GOOGLE results shown below. Could also be changed to Como Zoo instead. I know that was sugested before but I'm not sure how he googled 'Como Zoo' before. When I googled it the search returned 4,180,000 results in 0.22 seconds.Abrown0013 (talk) 09:15, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Google hits
edit- About 354,000 results (0.18 seconds) for "Zoo at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory"
- About 350,000 results (0.19 seconds) for "Como Park Zoo and Conservatory"
- About 4,180,000 results (0.22 seconds) for "Como Zoo"
Zoo at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory would associate it the with the organization the best possible way, but Como Zoo seems to be most commonly used. Como Zoo currently redirects to Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.± Abrown0013 (talk) 09:15, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Survey
editMove to Como Zoo. On Highbeam, Como Zoo gets 451 matches, "Como Park and Conservatory" 63, and Como Zoo, Saint Paul, Minnesota gets zero. Kauffner (talk) 12:46, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Agree: We need to keep in mind that there is already a "Como Park Zoo and Conservatory" about the park, zoo, and conservatory, for which this is a sub-article about the zoo only. The current full name (with city and state) is a departure from other zoo naming, and is unnecessary for disambiguation purposes. An alternative would be to merge this into the main article, but this article seems to have enough material to stand on its own. The Art section should probably be moved from the park article into this article though. Don Lammers (talk) 05:22, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose, agree the current title is not ideal but the proposal Zoo at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is far worse. How about simply Como Park Zoo? "como park zoo" -conservatory gets 32,300 ghits for me. Andrewa (talk) 14:29, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
- Support a move to Como Zoo per WP:UCN and because the comma disambiguation is unusual and unnecessary. "Como Zoo" is also the form that the Zoo's website uses in running text. — AjaxSmack 00:59, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Comment. Should just merge to Como Park Zoo and Conservatory like was agreed in 2010. Note that Como Zoo redirects there and not here. Jenks24 (talk) 09:48, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
