edit"Compactrons simply don't exist in any TV sets designed after 1986." While entirely plausible, this really needs a source cited for it. Where did the number 1986 come from? Personally I remember "solid-state" televisions being made earlier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.171.22.245 (talk) 11:13, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Article implies these were something new.
editThe article, as written implies that the idea of multiple electrode structures in a single envelope was somehow new in 1961. The reality is that the 'Compactron' name (possibly trade mark) was new in 1961, but the idea of multiple electrode structures was far from new. Indeed the Loewe company of Germany were producing vacuum tubes that not only contained multiple electrode structures but most of the passive components as well as far back as 1926. And these probably qualify as the first integrated circuits. 86.168.83.226 (talk) 12:54, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
- Great - thank you - please add this information to the article and cite your sources. Also consider contributing to the integrated circuits article. We value such additions. Nicholas SL Smithchatter 14:52, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
