Include Twister in this comparison

edit

I would also appreciate if Twister was included in these comparisons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twister_%28software%29 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.251.66.7 (talk) 19:04, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article should include all the services listed in the footer

edit

Clicking on Comparison in the footer takes me to this article, but this article doesn't include all the services listed. For example, Tumblr isn't included.

Here's the current list that should be covered:

Websites (Comparison)

Blauk Diaspora Edmodo Facebook Fanfou Google+ Identi.ca LinkedIn Me2day Meme Myspace NotePub Plurk Posterous Qaiku Sina Weibo Tencent Weibo Tumblr Twitter Viadeo XING Mdmcginn (talk) 21:48, 5 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I just arrived here from the Tumblr article. The Tumblr article has only one See also, namely this article. And this article (still) doesn't mention Tumblr (even though, apparently, Yahoo thinks Tumblr is worth $1.1B). --82.170.113.123 (talk) 18:02, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I agree, the complete lack of mention of Tumblr on the page, aside from footer, is really odd. --ConCelFan (talk) 19:13, 11 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sorting comparison table by year created

edit

Because of the citing numbers, it sorts incorrectly. Does anyone know how to fix this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.186.194.18 (talk) 04:20, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Friskr

edit

Why is "Friskr" up there with Twitter, Jaiku, etc? That's a bit weird, smells like advertising. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.153.233.58 (talkcontribs) 18:55, 20 August 2009

It was. I've removed it. — Hex (❝?!❞) 17:31, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Number of users

edit

It would be interesting to know the number of active users of each, or the unique visitors per month. That would provide more perspective. Facebook, for example: over 250 million active users[1], over 65 million unique visits in February 2009[2]. --82.171.70.54 (talk) 05:17, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Programming language used

edit

Hello en:

I think it would be useful to add the programming languages used in the first or the second table. Cheers, fr:Leafcat

Adding other networks

edit

I have started to compile some notes on micro-blogging services (for my own purposes, starting with the ones supported by ping.fm), I'll merge in any relevant data I find into this article soon. User:Spatical/list_of_microblogging_websites Spatical (talk) 07:38, 5 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

You missed out on many of the new popular micro-blogging services, especially those from China, such as Sina Weibo and Tencent Weibo. Just a note. ;) NoNews! 08:49, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why isn't LinkedIn on this list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:196:4801:D81:241A:6A41:211E:16C6 (talk) 19:37, 19 May 2017 (UTC) This is the list of working microblog services I know about anno 2014 (January)Reply

Inclusion of Binify?

edit

Binify lacks a Wikipedia article, and is probably not major enough to justify one. Its inclusion here feels suspiciously ad-like. My guess is that it should be removed LeahDReed (talk) 00:10, 23 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Why is Gab listed as Microblogging Service and Where is the Source For This?

Also, why are "social media" platforms included on a list with microblogs, in an Article that purports to compare microblogs?Tym Whittier (talk) 03:50, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Changed Gab's category from "micro-bloggin" to "social network". Also, in process of adding other ToS links as I find them. List is not complete. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tym Whittier (talkcontribs) 14:43, 13 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Please remember to sign your posts. Microblogging is a type of social network. For example, Category:Microblogging is a subcategory of Category:Social networking services. This is one of many reasons Google search results are misleading for these kinds of things. Grayfell (talk) 21:25, 16 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Include Yarn.social in this comparison

edit

I would appreciate if we could discuss the possibility of including Yarn.social in this comparison. Even though the ecosystem (as we call it) is still quite small and niche, it has steadily grown over the past two and a bit years and development continues. It is considered part of the smol internet and indieweb growing family of protocols and specifications. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Therealprologic (talkcontribs) 03:34, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Therealprologic can you provide significant coverage of the service? If not, I don't really see a reason to include it here. Philipnelson99 (talk) 03:38, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I certainly can! Therealprologic (talk) 03:39, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Free access

edit

Some service like twitter are restricting free access and force login with an account. Is this still public microblogging? Should this be taken into account in a table e.g.? --Gsälzbär (talk) 12:52, 4 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
