Conchoidal fracture definition

edit

Looked up this unfamiliar term and got stuck on this definition: "a fracture with smooth, curved surfaces, typically slightly concave, showing concentric undulations resembling the lines of growth of a shell"

What struck me is, if it's a fracture, resulting in two pieces, then both surfaces can't be slightly concave. The concavity of one piece should be matched exactly by the corresponding convexity of the other.

Just asking- it's very possible I've missed something obvious. Black pearl diver (talk) 23:16, 3 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
