'borough recycling plant'

edit

This might best be answered by those more local to Condover than myself. I have raised a citation need over a sentence at end of the summary that states there are ongoing discussions for a 'projected borough recycling plant' in Condover, which I was not aware had been mooted and I do not know if it came to anything. I suspect this may have been written more than a decade ago because Condover was part of the Borough of Shrewsbury and Atcham until 2009 when it was absorbed in the present unitary Shropshire Council.Cloptonson (talk) 05:44, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Semi-relevant passage deleted (subsection Later History)

edit

I have decided to take out this isolated single-sentence paragraph as it is digressive to the subject of Condover's history and possibly creates a precedent whose desirability would be questionable as the Owen family had daughters in various generations who married into a variety of landed families:

Page 112 of Magna Carta Ancestry by Douglas Richardson and Kimball Everingham records that Anne Owen, daughter of Roger Owen and The Honourable Alice of Condover Hall, married Sir St John Booth of Dunham Massey, Cheshire, in 1662 and they had a son named Thomas in 1663.

Frivolous statement deleted (section Sports)

edit

A suspected vandalism - I am deleting the latter half of this sentence (emphasised in italics):

  • Condover Football Club plays in the Shrewsbury Sunday League managed by Tom Hanchers dodgy hairline to go with his teams

School roll figure needs citing and updating (section Education)

edit

I have put a citation need against the alleged figure of 109 pupils for the roll at Condover's primary school. Such figures should be referenced with indication of the date of publication as inevitably rolls may either increase, or decline, as age cohorts pass through primary education.Cloptonson (talk) 18:40, 26 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Churchyard monuments (section Parish Church)

edit

I have raised a citation need against the statement the oldest monuments in the churchyard (as opposed to inside church) are 16th century, which would have borne death dates in the 1500s. In my youth I frequently visited the churchyard, collecting many inscriptions, and I could find no monuments going that far back in their inscriptions. (There is one 18th century tombstone that mentions a person born in 1699.) Has someone discovered something I don't know about?Cloptonson (talk) 05:37, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
