I believe that we need to add: -
A section that discusses approaches to conflict management from an Internatonal Relations point of view: This wikipage is rather psychology/business-centric and would benefit from someone who is knowledgeable in International Relations to write up a section on conflict management from a perspective in that discipline. Examples

Article status
editI redirected and merged this article to conflict resolution; Pm master reverted. From Pm master's edit summary:
- conflict management is completely different from conflict resolution - let's try to fix this article instead of referencing to another different one
Care to expand on why it's completely different? Aside from the obvious, I mean. Yes, I suppose there's something to merely "managing" conflicts rather than resolving them, but they're both related topics, related enough that I'd rather merge them together and have this shorter article be a section of the longer article. I'd like to point out that with my merge / redirect, a user sees exactly the same thing upon entering "conflict management" into the search box - I merged the whole article over. - Hi... It is interesting that you admit that Conflict Management is not the same as Conflict Resolution yet you still want to point conflict management to conflict resolution. They are related, but they are not the same at all.Pm master 15:13, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- You have just repeated yourself. "Not the same" does not mean we must have two different articles on them. Tiny subtopics are covered in an appropriate larger article elsewhere. Modern Wikipedia policy has been "better one good article than 8 tiny stubs." SnowFire (talk) 03:55, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. My main point is that conflict resolution is really different than conflict management. This article should be much longer, I agree, but it shouldn't be part of another article. It is more or less of a stub, but that doesn't mean we should just delete it and move it somewhere else. There are many stubs in Wikipedia, stubs that contributors, like you and me, are turning into real articles. Better definition needed
editRight now, the lead sentence says "Conflict management involves implementing strategies to limit the negative aspects of conflict and to increase the positive aspects of conflict at a level equal to or higher than where the conflict is taking place." This is poor because instead of saying what conflict management is, it says what it involves, and even that is vague. What does "implementing strategies" mean? Is that just "doing things"? Also, what is this metaphorical plane on which conflict is taking place, and what does it mean to be equal to or higher than it? Here are some suggested alternatives:
- Conflict management involves doing things to limit the negative aspects of conflict and to increase the positive aspects of conflict at a level equal to or higher than where the conflict is taking place.
- Conflict management involves doing things to limit the negative aspects of conflict and to increase the positive aspects of conflict.

Scope
editThis article is confused about its scope. It is addressing conflict within organisations, but there are several other important kinds of conflict, such as interpersonal conflict, conflict within kin groups such as families, international conflict (such as war), and conflict among non-human animals. Either a much bigger article is required, or the title needs limiting. In addition, the article is written as if there is only one culture in the world, that of the USA, while the massive study Fight, flight or face it?: celebrating the effective management of conflict at work (2008) by OPP with CPP and CIPD makes it very clear that conflict management differs hugely even between very similar countries such as Germany and the Netherlands Diomedea Exulans (talk) 20:36, 1 January 2013 (UTC).
- Agreed. I'd support a title change to something like "workplace conflict management" or "conflict management in the workplace", if those are notable enough topics. I'm currently sweeping through just doing copy-editing (simplifying, removing repetition, etc.). It might be easier to see what next step to take with this article when it's pruned down a bit.
