Notability

edit

I think that the Connecticut State Library, as a state government agency, is notable, even though the article appears to have been created by an employee of the library. --Eastmain 22:37, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The username was blocked for being promotional. The page needs an extensive rewrite for being a copy/paste. It fits the speedy criteria. Leebo T/C 23:49, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Eh... I guess it's worth it as a WikiProject Connecticut member to try to make this into an acceptable article. I've started by stripping it to a stub. Leebo T/C 23:56, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

You are correct, I am an employee of the Library and we're trying participate in Wikipedia by posting an article about us. The copy and pasting is from word documents, our webpage and other resources we already have describing the Library. Sorry, was not aware of the copy/paste dilemma. I am reentering the info. today. Do you have other suggestions as to what would be an acceptable way for us to do this. Many thanks.

Thank you for responding. The most important thing for the article is for it to satisfy Wikipedia:Attribution. All information should be attributed to third party sources. Basic information can come from primary sources, such as the library itself, but the majority of the information added should be cited with references to other publications. Have any history books about Connecticut written about the library? Those can be used. Newspaper articles about the library? Those can be used as well. Then they can be properly cited by using the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources. A section discussing the history of the library would also help make the article more informative. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Leebo T/C 13:49, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks for the suggestons. I'll cite what I've already entered today. And thanks for the footnoting help, I was almost getting the hang of it.Nancy Peluso 15:46, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
