Mistranslation of the word Omegn

Københavns Omegn does not mean "Greater Copenhagen", but rather "suburban Copenhagen" (literally "the surroundings of Copenhagen"). Which also explains why that constituency excludes the city itself. 94.252.12.7 (talk) 10:03, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

In accordance with WP:COMMONNAME we use the most common name used by reliable English language sources, not necessarily the literal translation. So, for example, the Danish Radikale Venstre party is known as Social Liberal Party in English Wikipedia, not Radical Left. The Norwegian Høyre party is known as Conservative Party in English Wikipedia, nor Right. There are only a few English language sources which refer to Danish constituencies but the Folketing's English language website refers to the Københavns Omegn constituency as Greater Copenhagen.--Obi2canibe (talk) 22:08, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Nomination districts

@Thomediter thank you so much for adding pages for the nomination districts. I do want to note a few things. First of all, categories need to be added. I will try to do that, but it's tedicious to do it for all 92 pages. Second, some of the nomination districts have existed in their current form prior to 2007. E.g. those in Odense and Århus municipalities. It would probably be more accurate if the articles reflected that. Third, if you or anyone else were to make pages for prior nomination districts, it would probably be more in line with what is typical on Wikipedia to consider those nomination districts whose boundaries changed, but whose names didn't, the same between those used from 1970 to 2006 and those used from 2007 onwards. E.g. Fredensborg is the successor to the nomination district with the same name that existed from 1970 to 2006, and thus the two should share the same page. Thank you for your message :) I appreciate that you've helped me with the categories, and I will look into the things you've suggested.

If I may ask - I've seen that you've made a lot of cool and detailed maps about Danish elections. I was wondering if you had time or/and wanted to create some maps that could show where each nomination district is located? I had myself imagined it could look something like here Sunderland Central (UK Parliament constituency).

If you would have another way you think could mark the location of the nomination district, I obviously have trust in whatever that idea would be.

@Thomediter I've added a map to Østerbro (Nomination district) just as a template. The description on the template doesn't seem to work the way I want it to. I hope there is some type of fix to it. Gust Justice (talk) 11:30, 9 June 2023 (UTC)

Nice :) It looks great, the only thing is that the picture of Denmark as a whole is divided into Storkredse and not Opstillingskredse. But this is a minor thing, and it can work this way too.
