this is a really gay site as it doesn't actualy tell you what the forces that classify under "contact forces" are.

This kind of language should not be allowed on this site.

This is hardly a scientific definition. Contact forces consist of sever forces, not just normal and friction.--Erik the guy 07:53, 5 November 2006 (UTC) Elastic potential energy (EPE) is one of the many forces there are other forces like Friction, Magnetism, Electrostatic and Gravity. These force are needed in everyday lifeReply
Electric and magnetic forces, like gravitational forces, are long-range forces, i.e., not contact forces. Elastic potential energy is not a force and represents the capacity for doing work on an object.

this page really needs editing so that us kids and adults can find examples of contact forces without getting fustrated, some of us might have homework on it and this web site is a poor show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.146.72.173 (talk) 16:16, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

force is a push or pull upon an objects resulting from the interaction of an object with another object. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.93.84.20 (talk) 12:45, 2 September 2010 (UTC) rashmikaReply
