Use by deacon
editThe article says: "It (i.e. the Cope) is now the vestment assigned to the celebrant, whether priest or bishop, for almost all functions in which the chasuble is not used, for example in processions, in the greater blessings and consecrations, at the solemnly celebrated Liturgy of the Hours, in giving Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and the celebration of other sacraments outside of Mass." Is it worn by a Deacon who does these where allowed? Richardson mcphillips1 (talk) 20:09, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- The cope can be worn by a deacon as it is a vestment proper to all ranks of clergy. The cope can be worn when the deacon is the celebrant or assistant for the solemn recitation for the Divine Office. Deacons also may wear the cope for processions. This information could be included in the article, but the use of the cope by a deacon is very rarely seen today. Dgf32 (talk) 19:49, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Patriarch of Jerusalem
editFirst, why is a firman of a non-existent state "unalterable"? Would the other religious communities really mind if he didn't use it, as long as he stuck to his own territory at the appointed time? And second, what "anomaly" is evident? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 21:54, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
Vangheluwe picture
editThis man has brought the Church into very great disrepute through the paedophilic abuse of his nephews, and through the cover-ups which protected him to the extent of making prosecution impossible. The Church seems still to be protecting him, which is more than somewhat scandalous.
Is it right, therefore, that he be taken as an exemplar in any shape or form for what constitutes ecclesiastical activities? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.220.152.171 (talk) 00:34, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Very comprehensive, but there's that first-person in the history and the general lack of references. Daniel Case 05:22, 21 April 2007 (UTC) |
