Use of |quote= to hold archive URLs

edit

The article contains a template using the |quote= field to hold 50+ archive URLs:

{{cite book |last1=Hansen |first1=Mogens |title=B1909 : Historien gennem 100 år : Frem til FC Fyn |date=2009 |location=Odense |pages=7–562 |url=http://www.fodboldfyn.dk/ |accessdate=2 March 2017 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20170205045722/http://www.fodboldfyn.dk/ |website=www.fodboldfyn.dk |archivedate=5 February 2017 |language=da |chapter=Seasons 1904/05-2010/12 for Fodboldturneringen, A-rækken, Mesterskabsrækken, A-rækken, Københavnsserien A/B and Københavnsserien (the best league under KBU) |quote=[https://web.archive.org/web/20170304094725/http://www.fodboldfyn.dk/PDF.%20Filer/Nye%2029-12-12/fodboldfyn%20danske%20pdf/dansk%201888-1909.pdf 1888/89-1908/09], [https://web.archive.org/web/20170304094551/http://www.fodboldfyn.dk/PDF.%20Filer/Nye%2029-12-12/fodboldfyn%20danske%20pdf/dansk%201910.pdf 1909/10], ... }}

This is a bad idea for a number of and reasons. The quote field was not designed for holding archive URLs. It also makes it impossible for the link rot bots to maintain the links. The archive URLs don't last, they go bad and need to be maintained. The correct solution here is to use {{webarchive}}. It can hold 10 URLs per instance and as many instances as you want. Example:

{{webarchive
|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170304094725/http://www.fodboldfyn.dk/PDF.%20Filer/Nye%2029-12-12/fodboldfyn%20danske%20pdf/dansk%201888-1909.pdf
|title=1888/89-1908/09
|date=2017-03-04
|url2=https://web.archive.org/web/20170304094551/http://www.fodboldfyn.dk/PDF.%20Filer/Nye%2029-12-12/fodboldfyn%20danske%20pdf/dansk%201910.pdf
|title2=1909/10
|date2=2017-03-04
|url3=...
|title3=...
|date3=..
|url4=..
|title4=..
|date4=..
}}
