CSD justification

edit

I saw this article in the Recent changes section. When I looked it and followed the wikilink to the company article, it does appear to be needed or notable. Perhaps, it should just be a redirect with no encyclopedic information. --Morenooso (talk) 18:08, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

JUSTIFICATION:The issue here is that "Copperweld" was for a very long time a corporation. That corporation has now been acquired and goes under the name "Fushi Copperweld," so a redirect would be in order, except that, in the utility and telecomm wire trades, "Copperweld" is used also as a generic word (despite its trademarked status) for copper clad steel wire... see the article. Within that industry, it's similar to "Kleenex" or "Coke"... it serves no advertising purposes, it is merely disambiguation. Iamvered (talk) 18:36, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, you seem to be the primary contributor to that article and the creator of this article tagged for CSD. Do you have a relationship with the company? --Morenooso (talk) 18:39, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've declined the speedy as this is a dab page and has only blue links. Whether the linked articles are appropriate is an entirely separate matter. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:06, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Honestly, although I don't feel your question is relevant, I will happily volunteer that I am employed by Fushi Copperweld, though I have been a Wikipedia contributor for years and have contributed to numerous articles in the past. I have maintained a NPOV in this, as with any article. I make no claims in the article about any product Fushi Copperweld manufactures. The company is publicly traded on the NASDAQ and heretofore its article barely contained any information at all. As I have stated, Copperweld® is a trademark of Fushi Copperweld, Inc. It is, however, also a common term within its industry as a synonym for copper clad steel wire. If you see that article, you will note in its history that reference long before I got to it. I would also refer you to the page on Kleenex, or the disambiguation page on Coke. The precedent is there. There is importance to the both the article on copper clad steel and to the company, Fushi Copperweld. The name "Copperweld" can be and often is used to refer to both. Hence my creation of the disambiguation page. I have no intention of embellishing the "Copperweld" page any further, nor of using Wikipedia to promote any of my company's brands in any way.Iamvered (talk) 23:08, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Actually, it is because if you're employed by them, you have a conflict of interest. --Morenooso (talk) 23:10, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
That is patently untrue. I am a human being but I can write about humans. I am an American and can contribute about the United States. My employment by Fushi Copperweld represents no conflict of interest. I will point out: this is a disambiguation page. If you say "Copperweld," you could be talking about four things: Fushi Copperweld, Copperweld Corporation, Copperweld copper-clad steel wire or Copperweld v. Independence Tube. There is absolutely nothing about my association with Fushi Copperweld that invalidates that statement. Can we let this go? Iamvered (talk) 19:14, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

NPOV

edit

Does there appear to be a NPOV problem with this article? I see none. If I don't get any objection in the next few days, I'm going to remove the COI tag. Iamvered (talk) 03:01, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
