Talk:Copyright law of Russia

Latest comment: 7 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

The sections on international copyright in Russia and Russian copyright in foreign countries should have been updated with the information from the 2004 Copyright law and 2006 Part IV of the Civil Code. This is important because these two acts retroactively restored any international copyright that might have been expired under previous Soviet and Russian laws, and Part IV also retroactively restored Soviet and Russian copyrights which might have been expired. This makes lenghty scolar discussions about the scope of copyright protection of Soviet-time works largely irrelevant. --Dmitry (talkcontibs ) 15:46, 31 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:United States copyright law which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RM bot 12:46, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

There is a great deal of overlap/redundancy between the section "Copyright in the Soviet Union" and the main article Copyright law of the Soviet Union. Shouldn't that section be abridged? --Macrakis (talk) 20:10, 14 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

This article was once called Copyright in Russia and is intended as an overview article of the three more detailed articles Copyright law of the Soviet Union, Copyright law of the Russian Federation, and International copyright relations of Russia. Whoever moved the article to its present name evidently didn't listen to my note to that effect at Talk:United States copyright law/Archive 3#Requested move. Lupo 07:03, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense. Maybe you can reorganize them? Was there not enough material on Copyright law of the Russian Empire for a separate article? --Macrakis (talk) 12:55, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
My suggestion would simply be to move this article back to "Copyright in Russia". Possibly the USSR section is indeed still a bit too detailed, but I don't see off-hand how to prune it. And no, I had not found any detailed treatises about the beginnings of copyright and copyright in Imperial Russia except the short overviews in the books by Newcity and Elst. Maybe there's something available in Russian... Lupo 20:56, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
