Origins

edit

"Chicken Cordon Bleu is a relatively recent American creation". Where's the substantiation for that? The earliest date mentioned is 1955, though the German page has references to what I consider the original Swiss veal cordon bleu (not mentioned here) going back to 1949. The French page, while very limited, refers to the veal as being the original and the chicken cordon bleu coming from Romania.

It seems that there's no evidence for the claim of American descent. I propose that it be removed, and that the name be changed to removed the term "chicken". Groogle (talk) 00:26, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think the same as User Groogle and tried to do this move, but the necessary speedy deletion of the article Cordon Bleu wasn't accepted by the administrator because there was "no discussion" - well u wrote that months ago but thats obv. not enough... --Fundriver (talk) 10:27, 23 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
I didn't delete that page to complete the move that was started because I do not believe that this or anything is the primary topic of Cordon Bleu. I could be wrong but that is why we have discussions that involve more than one or two people. When a move like this is contested the way to initiate the formal move discussion is explained at Wikipedia:Requested moves. GB fan 15:04, 23 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cordon bleu (dish)Cordon bleu – Currently, cordon bleu redirects to the disambiguation page Cordon Bleu. However, not one item on that list is commonly written as two separate uncapitalized words... except for the food dish I'm proposing to move. The capitalization is easily enough to WP:NATURALly distinguish the dish as primary topic for the lowercase form. (See WP:DIFFCAPS, which is policy.) In almost completely unrelated news, I'm hungry. Halal

edit

Do we need this section here? The article clearly states that the dish contains pork. Any halal modification cannot therefore be considered chicken cordon bleu. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.55.186.221 (talk) 03:19, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
