Illegal in USA?

edit

The CSI:Miami TV show said it was illegal to sell the corner shot in the US. Is it? It's not a gun. --Gbleem 11:48, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

BTW, our learned colleague is referring to the CSI: Miami episode 'Going Under'.

Are you sure it's not a gun? Another CornerShot article says it's a rifle. That may affect the permits you need to obtain it. Don't forget a couple of CornerShot versions launch anti-tank rockets or projectile grenades -- I doubt whether these would be legal for civilian use, even in the US!

Saying that CornerShots are illegal in the states means one of the following:

  • CornerShots are classed as pistols/rifles, and are subject to the same licencing restrictions. Since these are regulated by individual states, the TV show would be erroneous in this case.
  • The CornerShot itself is not a weapon; it is merely an add-on to one, like a Silencer. Silencers are illegal in the States, so under the same principles the CornerShot would be considered an 'illegal add-on' and thus contraband.
  • The CornerShot is classified military-only ordnance, meaning they are not legal for civillian personnel; so the CSIs are still correct in that Average Jo can't sell a CornerShot.
  • You need a permit to buy/sell CornerShots -- which the bad guys clearly didn't.
Actually
  • CS is not classified as a firearm.
  • Silencers are legal here, stop spreading lies and misinformation.
  • No
  • Not exactly

The short answer is that CS transforms a pistol into an SBR and it needs a Form 1 to make one. They are too expensive for what they are and we don't have that total breakdown in society like other countries hve, so they just are not very common. TV shows are usually full of shit when it comes to firearms nd the laws that govern them.--Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 05:05, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
