Dogwood
editHave tried to reconcile most of the differences between this page and Dogwood, but some still to do. The two pages should really be merged, as they effectively include the same content. - MPF 00:49, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Move. Clear consensus that the genus is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Cúchullain t/c 22:37, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
Cornus → Cornus (disambiguation) – This page really belongs at Cornus (disambiguation), which would allow Cornus (genus) to be moved here. Cornus (genus) is by far the most searched for use of the term and should be at Cornus. MCEllis (talk) 13:44, 24 February 2016 (UTC)--MCEllis (talk) 13:44, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Support The genus is the primary topic. 27,485 page views in the last 90 days for Cornus (genus) vs. 150 views in 90 days for Cornus, Aveyron (and 597 views of the dab page). Note that this should be formatted as a multiple move: Cornus->Cornus (disambiguation) and Cornus (genus)->Cornus. Plantdrew (talk) 17:25, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose given the number of references to Cornus in Sardinia and Cornus, France leaving the baseline as a dab to pick up mislinks is advisable. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:02, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
- I don't understand how Google results work in favor of this argument. Cornus, dogwood has hundreds of thousands more results than any other use of "Cornus".--MCEllis (talk) 15:35, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
- Support - as pointed out above, Google hits work in favour of the genus rather than the island. Similarly for book searches: "cornus" "dogwood" 89,000; "cornus" "sardinia" 2,500. And as far as I'm aware, "leaving the baseline as a dab to pick up mislinks" has never been a reason to shy away from making a move that is otherwise correct. It's perfectly easy to eliminate mislinks using WP:AWB and other automated tools - I'm happy to help out with this as well if needed. Thanks — Amakuru (talk) 12:34, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
