Surely this law did not apply in Scotland, where the established church was Presbyterian. How did that work after the Act of Union? --Jfruh (talk) 01:12, 13 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, when the law was passed the established church of Scotland was not Presbyterian but episcopalian. Only after 1689 was Presbyterianism established in Scotland. However, you are of course right: this was until the Union an English law. And after Union it would have taken into account that the CoS was Presbyterian.
