Confusion about Costens
editThere are a number of different Costen van Halmales. The one discussed in this article is Costen II van Halmale. Per http://dare.uva.nl/search?identifier=e1360442-f353-47f5-9ec2-a72f3d61cbde we should distinguish Costen I van Halmale ( – 1457), the son of Jan I van Halmale and Isabella van Coelput, Costen II van Halmale (1432-37 – 1454) son of Jan II van Halmale and Margriet Bacheler, Costen III van Halmale (1473–1473) and Costen IV van Halmale ( –1566), the son of Willem II van Halmale and Josina van Steenberghe.

- I posted this to avoid original research. I cited a scholar (a reliable source who has done the disambiguation for us. We should not try to do this ourselves, but go by what the sources say instead. Mduvekot (talk) 13:19, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
