The Riverside Inn at Upper Cound, originally the Cound Railway Station on the Severn Valley Railway and built in 1862. The roadway in the foreground covers the route of the original railway track. The building is Grade II listed.

Where did the information come from that currently appears in this article? Cound has a full sized Station building (probably one of the most substantial station building on the whole line apart from the terminuses), which according to the Grade II listing status records at Shrewsbury and Atcham was built in 1862. It seems strange that the SVR would build it in 1862 and then leave it unused until 1932. It is also difficult to believe that a station of that size and carrying a high level of commercial traffic (mostly coal), even though passenger throughput was low, would have been an unmanned halt. — 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 16:41, 4 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
