Moves

edit

I have moved the article back to "Courland Governorate" for procedural reasons. Unfortunately, the edit summary got cut off. Here's a full copy of it:

Moving back for procedural reasons. Since being created, the article had stayed at "Courland Governorate" before all the moves started. Under WP:BRD, it is the responsibility of those wanting to move the article elsewhere to provide rationale. Please file a move request.

Lousy title

edit

Huh. Saw the history and apparently there's some edit war or WP:localconsensus going on I don't want to get in the middle of, but the title's still wrong. Governorate of Courland (noun) is correct; Courlandish Governorate (adj) is correct (and the literal translation from the Russian); Courland (Governorate) (noun) is correct; but the current title is a pig's breakfast.

Is there some source for this name outside of Wikipedia? We should note it in the article. — LlywelynII 18:11, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Eh, win some, lose some. Obv. can't search for Courland (gov'rt) but apparently we're doing OK. Google books brings back 6 for the current title, 2 for GoC, and 0 for CishG. — LlywelynII 18:15, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Error

edit

The following paragraph contains a mistake, and is also without any reference: "It ceased to exist during World War I after the German Empire took control of the region in 1915. Russia surrendered the territory by the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk on 3 March 1918."

In fact, Courland was a part of the independent state of Latvia between the wars, not a part of Germany. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.113.193.239 (talk) 01:08, 4 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
