Term for wings (?) surrounding courtyard?
editWhat do you call the part of a building that stands on one side of an inner courtyard? 'Wing' usually denotes a building added to the main, or initial house, but in a courtyard house, medieval inn/khan/caravansary, castle and similar type of building, the (usually 4) side somethings surrounding the courtyard are the essential part of the original layout.
Example: "Two-storey residential ...s suround the inner courtyard."
