- You are right, the map should be update, also, I need a map for which countries allow these types of consanguine marriage: (third cousin marriage is not considered as consanguine marriage, but South Korea does not allow)
- Sibling marriage
- Avunculate marriage
- First cousin marriage
- First cousin once removed marriage
- Second cousin marriage
- Second cousin once removed marriage

- Indonesia, like Malaysia, allows avunculate marriage and some polygyny, since it is a Muslims country, thus it also allows cousin marriage. 1.165.247.185 (talk) 23:24, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
France is wrong
editFrance is wrong too. First cousin marriage is illegal.
Perhaps the map should be removed until it got better sourced? 2A02:8108:323F:E3E0:F120:FA6F:30A0:D53F (talk) 19:35, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

The word "consanguinity"
editThis article is riddled with misuses of the word "consanguinity". "Consanguinity" just means "relatedness by blood", or less figuratively, "genetic relatedness". People are misusing it to mean "marriage to a related person". The word "consanguinity" has nothing to do with marriage in itself. Phrases such as "rates of consanguinity" are meaningless. Please stop. -- Oliver P. (talk) 02:31, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Perhaps Affinity (law) should be used more. Johnbod (talk) 03:04, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Affinity is relatedness by marriage as opposed to relatedness by blood. Your sister is a consanguineous relative of yours, whereas her husband - your brother-in-law - is an affine. -- Oliver P. (talk) 03:19, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- I know. But is it the word some uses of C here are looking for? Johnbod (talk) 03:23, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- No. They are definitely on the topic of relatedness by blood. It's just that a lot of people are using the word "consanguinity" to refer to an action; at least, that is the only way I can make sense of the phrase "consanguinity rates". -- Oliver P. (talk) 04:30, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
