More than just the main arena

edit

The Cow Palace as it currently exists includes a North Hall, a South Hall and a couple of separate exhibition halls on the same grounds, used annually for The Great Dickens Fair, gun shows, and so on. The article currently makes no mention of this. When were these halls built? What is the floor area of the halls and exhibit buildings? — QuicksilverT @ 21:42, 1 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yeah ... it's a little confusing. The Main Building - I'm guessing referred to as the "floor hall" - is where all the famous rock concerts were held. As an employee at The Dickens Fair, I can tell you first hand, THAT is not where the Christmas fair takes place.

The Dickens Fair takes place in a series of buildings, near the lower level parking lots.( These are possibly the "exhibit halls" referred to.) The lower area was built for holding the livestock, before leading them up to the Main Building for showing. ( Several cattle loading ramps, and outdoor pens, still exist there.). The lower areas are still used for that function, as every year, Pre-Dickens Fair, the buildings are hosed out and thoroughly cleaned, before the fair can start it's load in.

There are also several buildings for general storage and a few office buildings on the lower level lot. When all these "add ons" were built, is hard to call. ( Probably not long after realizing the Main Building wasn't big enough to show AND store all the livestock! ) 75.106.219.197 (talk) 19:30, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
