I believe it was Richard Lewis who with the help of the aboriginals that took George evens past Lawson's expedition to show him to so he could survey the central western plains to become the Bathurst region
Richard Lewis was then asked by Governor Macquarie and will cox
To be the superintendent in charge of the road construction down the mountains it was Richard with the help of the aboriginals that when up to ten miles ahead of the road crew marking the tree's that had to be removed for the road a job he did months ahead of schedule
So he was the asked to be the first superintendent of starting a colony on the central western plains to start growing wheat for the other colony's another job that with the help of the aboriginals was completed months a head of schedule
Richard Lewis married marry Ann Roberts her birth records Wich governor Macquarie had done so Richard and marry could marry state she was born in the colony in 1792 free with unknown parents
Richard Lewis kept trying to protect the local aboriginals right up till his death
It's in all Williams cox's, George Evens and governor Macquarie's journals
In Governor Macquarie's journals it says on his arrival to the central western plains he was greeted by Richard Lewis and two aboriginal men and six aboriginal children showing off trinkets they had been given by Richard some Governor Macquarie said in his journal he took on doing himself in giving the local aboriginals small trinkets of thanks
It wasn't till Governor Macquarie was removed and Governor Brisbane was bought in that everything changed for the local aboriginals
The Cox family was proud to say they had either killed or chased the local aboriginals out of the area
Before that Richard Lewis and Governor Macquarie punished four white settlers in the area for raping and killing a young aboriginal girl
Richard Lewis and Marry Ann Roberts had the first twin boys in 1810 William and Richard jnr then or children
I think there achievements are greatly over looked because of our history with what happened with the aboriginals
Sorry for the no grammar
