Would CpG Oligonucleotide be a better name

edit

"CpG Oligonucleotide" seems the more widely used term - Are there any/many nondeoxy CpG Oligonucleotides ? - Rod57 (talk) 14:14, 6 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

The word "oligonucleotide" may refer to both "oligoribonucleotides" and "oligodeoxyribonucleotides". TLR9 receptors don't recognize RNA, but only dsDNA. Hence, the physiological effect of CpG oligos being accepted to be TLR9-mediated, it is correct to say "oligodeoxynucleotide", and not "oligonucleotide".
