DEPROD
editThis actor (myself) has been a recurring character on RAY DONOVAN, a popular television series on Showtime, and has appeared in films by David Ayer, Steven Soderbergh, and will appear in the upcoming film TED 2, directed by Seth MacFarlane. He also has appeared in major theatre venues in Chicago, Los Angeles and in festivals around the world over the past 20 years. I have added numerous citations in this edit to support this body of work. If the citations are doe improperly, please let me know. Thanks! PROD
editThis actor has never been a regular in a television series and does not seem to have ever had a notable role in a film. There do not seem to be critical reviews of his roles that includes encyclopedic biographic detail.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 15:57, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
COI tag - Laundry List
editThe primary author of this article claims to be the subject. (see above in section DEPROD).Right now this article is simply a laundry list of where this actor "appeared". Did he play significant or even named roles in any of these? The comedy performances at lease seem to have some critical reviews. An article should say why its subject is notable and what others have said about the subject.
Much, if not all of the biographical information presented has no sourcing and should be removed if no reliable sources are presented to verify it. JBH (talk) 18:20, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
Re: COI
editWhen this small article was posted in 2006, it was my first experience with Wikipedia. Since then, others have added information and drastically modified it based on a growing body of work. While I am not a major movie star, others in the community have taken notice, even if I am not a household name. That being said, I completely understand the need for filtering out "vanity" or "self serving" articles. I am a little curious as to why, after nine years, it has been targeted for deletion. I appreciate any help to fix this article so it conforms to the Wikipedia standards, but if it has to go, so be it. Thanks for your volunteer work, Wiki-people! - @Craigshaynak: Nothing personal, I just started going through articles that were tagged as unreferenced BLPs and PRODed them. The ones that are dePRODed I then go back, note on the talk page that they have been PRODed once (this keeps it from happening again) and then look at the article in greater depth to see if it can be easily improved, whether I just made a mistake or if it should be nominated for AfD. Yours seems a bit borderline based on sources (see Wikipedia notability guidelines for entertainers and General notability guidelines) but it is far from the top of my list to AfD. Although an editor with a COI tends to make me look a bit harder at it, your open response here is very much appreciated and I would be glad to try to help you improve the article to meet Wikipedia standards.
If you would take a look at the format of similar articles, it can be re-written to conform to that. Just so it looks better and the unsourced stuff based on your personal knowledge can be removed. (I think, in some cases, it would be good to cite things to the subject but Wikipedia policy generally forbids this) I think more sources discussing what other people have said about what you have done (third party sources see Wikipedia reliable sources to conform with Wikipedia policies on living persons.
I am a bit unsure about it meeting notability guidelines but it is close enough that it is worth spending time to bring it up to spec. We can address that question early in the process. What I really need from you is sources. Articles about your roles, articles with any biographical information and also sources that give information on the roles you have played or shows you have done. Let me know what you would like to do. Cheers JBH (talk) 01:58, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
Removed COI tag after rewrite
editPreviously, as noted above, this article read as a laundry list of roles and associations. I've cleaned up and shortened the article, trying to tell a story rather than merely list role after role.
What this really needs are references that discuss Shaynak -- either profile pieces, or articles about his specific contribution or influence on shows he was in. Most of the references -- many of which I removed -- merely verify that Shaynak was in fact in the shows that were listed.
I did find one more recent (2010) news article about him being the producer who brought a show from Edinburgh to Los Angeles; so I put that in there.
Craig, if you're still watching, please do find us some more references. Not just "This show stared the following actors," but something describing the significance of your role, whether as an actor or producer.
In any case, there's no need for the COI tag now, I don't think.Moishe Rosenbaum (talk) 04:11, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
