Trauma
editThis stub mentions trauma a few times, but mostly deals with birth defects. I am not particularly qualified to flesh it out, but as someone who had facial reconstruction done directly after facial trauma, I am curious if that was anomalous when compared to the number of surgeries done on account of congenital defects. mordicai. 16:54, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ah-ha! It seems that Oral and maxillofacial surgery is the subject more at hand for these issues. mordicai. 01:52, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Craniofacial Surgery Fellowships available to both Plastics and Maxillofacial graduates
editIt should be noted:
Craniofacial Surgery like hand surgery is a shared surgical discipline. Craniofacial Surgery is a shared field between both Plastic and Reconstructive sureons (PRS) and Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons (OMS). Both specialties have their own craniofacial surgical fellowships that focus on this type of training. Both specialties are able to train surgeons to take on the role of the Cheif Craniofacial surgeon of a of a craniofacial unit.
Here is an example of an OMS craniofacial fellowship: OMS-Craniofacial
Here is an example of a Plastics craniofacial fellowship: PRS-Craniofacial
