Low crime rates evidence to the contrary found
editThis article describes homicide rates lower than in the rest of Western Europe (it says developed countries but Western Europe is where the largest number of developed countries are). Well according to this [1] when you compare portugal to other western european countries such as the UK and Germany Portugal has a noticeably higher number of violent deaths and murders per 1000 pop. The list from List of countries by intentional homicide rate agrees with this article as it is now not my source. That article also shows that Portugal has a homicide rate very similiar to other developed countries (not just Western European ones). But it does have a much noticeably lower homicide rate than the USA which is maybe what this article was referring to. So i propose changing the phrase Developed countries to the USA (but that doesnt present a worldview now does it). ok may just change it to having a similiar rate to Developed countries not lower also the lower rate claim is unsourced. Unless a source is found I think a change is necessary. Eopsid (talk) 17:43, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
