On the talk pages of the Wikipedia articles for Arcangelo Corelli and Farinelli you can see that references to Christiano Farinelli have been removed from those articles. This is because modern scholarship casts doubt on what older sources suggested about his relationship with either man. It should be noted that this article is based on very old sources and while it may be correct, the current consensus is that it is not. Mccapra (talk) 09:57, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
I just happened on this because of a link from the article on George Frideric Handel. I was curious to find out about the nature of the relationship between Farinelli and Handel. But I immediately noticed an error in the write up on Farinelli: This article states: "After living for some time in France, we find him from 1680 to 1685 at Hanover, side by side with Handel, as leader of the band." This is fundamentally incorrect, as Handel himself was only born in 1685, as the wikipedia article on Handel confirms! This leads me to seriously doubt the credibility of this article on Farinelli! Handel was born 1685 so the reference to Handel and Cristiano working together from 1680 to 1685 in Hanover is blatantly incorrect. Please, those that have the power, please change this. Jennycoped (talk) 17:38, 17 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
