Exxon gas production has caused earthquakes in the Netherlands. source here and here. I am suggesting this in relation to the GA review that I have opened for ExxonMobil. I'm not sure whether this conflict will be notable enough to make it into that article, but I don't think we can bring that article to GA unless this article is reasonably complete (B). In 2012, the Washington Post reported that Exxon was contributing to tensions in Iraq and fomenting civil war: ...leaders in Baghdad and the semiautonomous Kurdistan region are warning that they are close to civil war — one that could be triggered by Exxon Mobil.source also here.
They reported on it again in 2017: the deal [with Iraq] overseen by [Exxon CEO] Tillerson, whose confirmation hearings to become secretary of state begin Wednesday, defied U.S. foreign policy aims, placing the company’s financial interests above the American goal of creating a stable, cohesive Iraq. That quote is stated as fact in the WaPost editorial voice.
