Queen categories

edit

User:Dimadick and I differ on whether this article belongs in Category:Eleanor of Castile, Category:Mary, Queen of Scots and Category:Elizabeth I and Dimadick seems determined to revert my removal of these categories. The connections between this article and the three queens seem rather too tenuous to warrant inclusion of this article in those categories. A well called Queen's Well nearby (not even the whole of the site) is associated in legend with the first two, and Elizabeth I is said to have commented on the view here. I contend that these legendary, short-lived and tenuous associations do not justify the article's inclusion in these categories. The relevant section on Dimadick's talk page shows our initial failure to reach consensus; I note that other editors have questioned his over-inclusive interpretation of categorisation guidelines on other articles in the past. No, it does not belong in those categories, having only a slight connection with those women. It might be appropriate to create a sourced list of "Places known or believed to have been visited by Queen xxx" for each queen, if it felt that this is something readers might find useful and if the list would satisfy the criteria for a list, but the slight connection to each of them is not enough to add CoL to their category. A more useful activity might be to create a redirect from Queen's Well, Crook o' Lune, and a dab page to disentangle it from Queens Well, Arizona and Glen Mark#Queen's Well. PamD 13:50, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
A dab page with only two items is not that useful. Dimadick (talk) 14:12, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
