Talk:Cultural heritage/Archive 1
Encyclopedic
editCultural heritage is an important topic, and I believe that it is possible to expand this article by including examples of the heritages of different countries. Does anyone have any other suggestions to save this article from going to Wiktionary? -Danaman5 21:57, 15 February 2006 (UTC).
- If we're going to expand the article beyond being a definition, I am worried about limiting cultural heritage to something that nations have, as opposed to cities, states, ethnic groups, etc. Also, the definition is very narrow in what makes up cultural heritage, in this case physical items "worthy of preservation for the future". Jazz is part of the cultural heritage of New Orleans, but jazz does exist and cannot be preserved the same way a monument or a Monet can. -Acjelen 23:46, 15 February 2006 (UTC).
- I think that the article Historic preservation has many of the elements that I am thinking of. This article doesn't have to be expanded, then, but I still believe that it should stay on Wikipedia. --Danaman5 20:33, 16 February 2006 (UTC).
I agree that the definition might be a little narrow, I'm currently studying cultural heritage management in my own country who have a very wide definition of it's cultural heritage. For further information about cultural heritage I would suggest that one of you read "Heritage: Management, Interpretation, Identity" by Peter Howard sold on Amazone
It's an english book that we're using in our studying of the subject.
It's first chapter deals with the question: "What is heritage?"

museum heritage userbox
editAs a museum and heritage worker in providing learning I belong to various networks that share knowledge, thereby not re-inventing the wheel. I am not saying that this needs to be a result of this 'link' but I have created a user box for professionals in the museum - heritage field. It will add a category to the page. User:Edmund Patrick/Userboxes/Museum will take you there. --Edmund Patrick 08:38, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Cultural Property
editI would love to see a section on this notion http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/08/opinion/08riley.html and where the legal line is, eg compared to corporate trademarks Spot (talk) 00:26, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Expansion proposal
editOver at the talk:historic preservation page, there are being discussed issues regarding "Preservation", both as to the lack of an international scope of that page, and as to issues of terminology (a UK-US split). It has been suggested that the page Cultural Heritage serve as an umbrella topic for a wide range of cultural heritage preservation efforts, be used to help introduce the many facets of the concepts within it, given that an understanding of cultural heritage as a concept is essential to understanding cultural preservation & conservation efforts, and that this page a.) already has significant information on such efforts and b.) is very short on what it does have, consisting largely of "see also" links. Ideas for subsections include a focus on tangible culture, intangible culture, the world cultural heritage movement, and directions to national preservation movements, as well as subsidiary fields and disciplines. Dumb question re: downloading the videos
editHello. I'm brand new so please forgive my ignorance. I want to download one of the videos here; when I click the download button, it redirects me to the top fo the page but does not start a download. Please advise. Thank you.
[EDIT: This worked! Thank you, kind Wikipedian Outriggr. Feel free to delete if necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wentgin5 (talk • contribs) 17:03, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

- @Wentgin5: It is very confusing. The caption links for these videos make it even more confusing. Anyway:
- when you play the video, you should see a "MENU" button in the bottom right corner
- when you press "MENU", you should see "Title: The title". Click on the title.
- It will take you to the file/video page, where you should see a "Download" option somewhere. Click on download.
A lot of these instructions depend on whether you're using the mobile or desktop version of the site. If you still have problems, tell me which video you want and I'll link to it directly for you. Outriggr (talk) 16:04, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
