Culture
editI am not quite sure whether this link belongs to the cultural department of New York? [1] Austerlitz 88.72.24.0 15:04, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
We really need to get a better first picture than that crappy first virtual graffiti picture. Get a writer like Tracy 168, Seen or Zephyr. I'd do it if I knew how to get a usable image on here. 155.33.164.185 05:34, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Jcrav2k6
Picture
editThe first picture is a computer-generated picture of graffiti. Shouldn't it at least be something that's actually in New York?Mikeazorin 22:54, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Bambaat7a.jpg
editImage:Bambaat7a.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:48, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Important Missing Content
editArguably the most distinctive feature of New York City is its ethnic diversity. Noticeably absent from this article is the cultural influence of Italian Americans in New York City, Jews in New York City, Chinese Americans in New York City, and Irish Americans in New York City. Certainly, these are salient to the culture of New York. Ergo Sum 20:32, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Lead
editThe lead needed some cleaning up. Paragraphs 2 and 3 were basically paraphrasing each other. Duplicate wikilinks galore, it looked rushed, so for the time being I simply omitted the shorter of the two and kept the other in. SEMMENDINGER (talk) 18:45, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
