Translation

I translated the lyrics this before knowing the existence of this article. It offers a more literal translation:

鞏金甌﹐
     承天幬﹐
民物欣鳧藻﹐
喜同袍﹐
清時幸遭﹐
真熙皡¹﹐
帝國蒼穹保﹐
天高高﹐
海滔滔。
The Cup of Solid Gold,
     With a heavenly cover.
People have objects, so are as happy as ducks have waterweed.
Joyful ones are intimate.
Lucky experiences occur during the Qing Dynasty,
Truly prosperous and brilliant.
The Heaven protects the Empire.
The heaven is high above.
The waves are overflowing.

¹ 皡 or 皞 (hào "brilliant") is sometimes written as 嗥 (háo "holler") on computer

I wonder if 喜同袍﹐清時幸遭﹐ actually meant, "Joy to our people, the Qing has been there to see."--Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 18:37, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The interpretation is wrong, 清时幸遭 should read as 幸遭清时, which means luck to meet peace time 有幸遇着太平时世. This is also a pun 清 is also the name of the dynasty.--刻意(Kèyì) 19:38, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
