Tasks
editThis article needs a lot of help in expansion. What it needs:
A chronology of what has happened so far.Court decisions.- Accusations of racial bias in ruling judges.
- Reactions from both sides.
- Reactions from the Chinese American community and the Chinese government.
Hong Qi Gong 16:22, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
When u mean reactions from the Chinese-American community do u mean like interviews of them with news sources or like personal oppinions of Asians living there. 74.242.188.34 01:45, 8 August 2007 (UTC)是我Nobody of Ithaca 01:47, 8 August 2007 (UTC) 我是中国人在memphis.
- Whatever sources you can find about Chinese American reaction to this case. I know that this has been a pretty big issue within the Chinese American community. But if you are not sure what to insert into the article, post the sources up in this Talk page first or leave a note at my account Talk page. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 02:52, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- More balance and fairness.Annasbenefit 14:16, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Annasbenefit
- Please don't insert bias information in the article. Thanks. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 14:20, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
You have plenty of biased information in the article. There are facts wrong and I corrected them. Are you afraid of the truth and facts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Annasbenefit (talk • contribs) 2007-05-04 14:36:20
A question about some of the links in the bottom
editAre they really needed? Because a lot of them seem to be pretty outdated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.108.99.124 (talk • contribs) 2007-02-26 21:54:34
- I took out some of the older news articles. It might be good if we replaced them with more current news articles. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 04:30, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Would you like to discuss the factual errors on your Anna Mae He page or would you like to go to arbitration? You have several factual errors which are easily verified. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Annasbenefit (talk • contribs)
- Hey, Annasbenefit. It appears you have been cut-pasting this information from another website. We here at Wikipedia wish that you say things in your own words and that those words are well-cited and neutral. Just because there is currently information in an article that is "wrong," in your opinion, doesn't mean you can replace it with a bunch of equally uncited information. The best you can do is remove the text if it could be considered illegal per our living persons policy. Thanks, JHMM13 19:07, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Many of the current (12/21/2010) source links are broken. Namely numbers 8, 11, 13, 14, 17, 19, 20, and 24. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.157.153 (talk) 05:05, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Some links
editThis article was hacked in some edit warring, then deleted because nobody wanted to fix it. It is now restored with the links all broken. I am not interested in doing detail work on a contentious article, so I am not touching the page. However, I am contributing this list of links, for the benefit of whoever wants to fix the article. — Randall Bart (talk) 17:59, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Hes and Bakers get together to celebrate Anna Mae's birthday
editWorld Journal has an article about the Hes and the Bakers getting together to celebrate Anna Mae's 9th birthday. It even has a picture of the two families together.[1] I'll be adding content from that source later unless someone else gets to it or finds an English version of the story. Relevance of "See Also" section
editI question the relevance of including wiki-links to the Elian Gonzalez affair and interracial adoption.
Firstly, the Gonzalez affair--so infamously botched by the Clinton Administration--was about aslyum from a repressive government and a mother that died trying to escape from Castro's regime. There's no evidence that the Hes came to the US to escape persecution or repression of any kind from Chinese authorities. They came here so Jack He could studying at an American university, an disparate reason from the one which motivated Elian Gonzales' late mother to flee Cuba.
Secondly, interracial adoption was, at most, tangential to this case. The issues were almost entirely custodial, i.e. who would make the best parents for Anna Mae and which country would be the best place for her to continue living, especially since she had known no home but the United States. The complexities of interracial adoption do not seem to have entered into it. Aside from the custodial issues, cultural and language differences loomed far larger than any question of ethnicity.
Thus, I think this section should be removed, or replaced by relevant topics.
PainMan (talk) 09:55, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I would agree with you if this was content written into the article. But the "See also" section is precisely for simple links to other articles that are either related or tangential at best. Interracial adoption is there because this is a famous case of one, or technically a famous case of attempted interracial adoption. At one point, the news was reporting that Anna Mae "has rejected her Chinese heritage, saying she 'never' wants to go to China" and that she "won't eat Chinese food anymore, and tells people that she's Mexican."[2] Stuff like this is actually an important issue in interracial adoption.
- As for the link to Elián González, I can only gather that when it was added, the incident was still fresh in people's minds and that it was also a child possibly being sent to another country. Although I completely understand the point you're making. I wouldn't be opposed to removing that link, but I believe the link to interracial adoption needs to stay. Proposed deletion
editI would probably agree that it’s time to delete this article and it is far too detailed. I don’t have the time or inclination to rewrite it and I don’t think there has been any news coverage recently. Someone else should formally nominate it for deletion. Bookworm857158367 (talk) 02:23, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Bookworm857158367 I know this comment is from nearly a year ago, but I don't think "not having recent coverage" is *not a reason to delete an article on an event that happened in the past, and in general rewriting is preferable to deletion. That being said, I'm not familiar with it enough to comment on its notability, so if you think it fails in that regard, feel free to nominate it. ——267 07:57, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
Biographies of living persons (Crime)
editWikipedia policy states that "For individuals who are not public figures, editors must seriously consider not including material—in any article—that suggests the person has committed or is accused of having committed a crime, unless a conviction has been secured". There is some accusations of crimes for Jack He in this article, but personally I feel like they are at least somewhat relevant to the events. Anyone has any opinions on what to do about that? ——267 08:00, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
