"A kilocycle is a thousand cycles of any periodic phenomenon. This is a measurement of usage of reciprocating machines, especially presses. Kilocycles or kc, as an abbreviation of kilocycles per second, is an old term for what is today known as kilohertz. This is because sound waves have a frequency measurable in their number of vibrations (or cycles) per second."
This is the entirety of the Kilocycle article as of January 19, 2016, not including its one reference. Since it's essentially four sentences on a variant of the subject of this article it would seem that it'd be better suited as a section here. I've merged what useful content it had into this article. If anyone has any issues with this, please let me know. Tpdwkouaa (talk) 05:51, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
Tilde as unit symbol
editI have never seen the tilde as the unit symbol and curious where this occurs. Maybe we can find a reference? I wasn't able when I searched for it. --Martin.sedler (talk) 17:54, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Martin.sedler: Agreed; I've removed it. fgnievinski (talk) 02:58, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
Rename to Cycles per second
editThe lead already states it's the more common name. fgnievinski (talk) 03:02, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
