New BSG image

Isn't there a BSG real series Cylon picture out there that came from the real series and not from the modern bastardisation?

I mean, to those of us who actually do despise the un-imagining (oh shock shock), it seems just bloody rude to use a picture from this modern... whatever. Aberration. Ugh... as a representative picture for a race from the real BSG.

Yeah, the deimagining picture is poor form. I put it in there because it was the one in the original article. It should be changed... so go ahead.

An actual 1978 Cylon for the Cylon (1978) article would be better. But, I'm not about to change it.

Cylons - reptilian race

Cylons are reptiles. Also, Luke Skywalker is a Vulcan. Cite your sources, know-it-all.

Apollo specifically says this in the pilot (end of the second episode when split.)

Telling time in the BSG universe and stealing of ideas, etc....

12 Colonies : 12 Constellations : 12 tribes of Israel (and one untraced), etc....

In German, the word for year is "Jahre" (plural, "Jahren", pronounced as the English "Yarn"). As German Jews speak Yiddish and much of Yiddish is lower German, this is probably the borrowed source of the word. Therefore, should it be spelled "Yahren" in this wiki? Vocoder

Reinstating the vocoder used for the Cylon Centurions (both gold and silver) which is verifiable in the book 'How to Wreck a Nice Beach' by Dave Tompkins. The voice-actor Michael Santiago is not mentioned, but I know for a fact he is the voice of the Cylons because it's mentioned elsewhere and because I signed-up for two free weeks with IMDbPro and had several email chats with him confirming this. --VoiceEncoder (talk) 07:44, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

I've been watching this get added and deleted for some months now. While the chat can't be referenced, I do agree that it is a notable point as to how the Cylon voice is/was created, and IMO benefits the article. However, the location in the article doesn't work because it's within an area that is describing the Cylon characters' society. I suggest creating a new section (not a sub) above ==Popular culture== called ==Production notes== or something similar. The EMS Vocoder 2000 was used for both the gold Command Centurions and the silver Centurions ((the only difference being the gold Cylons spoke in a deeper (lower) pitch/tone)) and I decided to change this so as to not make the reader think it was only used for the gold Command Centurions and not the silver Centurions. --VoiceEncoder (talk) 00:57, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

"In lieu of"

"Cylon extras are briefly seen in the 2012 movie Argo, in lieu of both the film's nature and historical narrative." This makes absolutely no sense. "In lieu of" means "instead of". For example, "the family of the deceased requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ASPCA."
