Duc DucDục Đức – As with many other Vietnamese articles, the matter of diacritics in the title needs to be discussed. The related article Tomb of Dục Đức was moved to the current version containing diacritics following this RM. The closer subsequently moved this article as well, but this was reverted without discussion. It's certainly worth getting community input; for what it's worth recent consensus at Vietnamese articles seems to favor using diacritics unless the subject is commonly known in English without them. • Support - as per RfC majority to treat Vietnamese like every other Latin alphabet language, also per use in academic English sources. In addition this restore is a good illustration of why simplifying by ASCII-izing Vietnamese names can be misleading. Even a reader with a very casual interest in Vietnam, should be allowed to see the difference Dục Đức to pronounce "Zup Duc" not "Duck-Duck," - what probably won't be apparent to the casual reader / beginner learner is the meaning of the two underlying Vietnamese-pronounced Chinese characters "Education Morality" (giáo dục, đạo đức). These names still hold meaning today and aren't random noise. They also help to distinguish when two Vietnamese people with the same name in ASCII are actually different names. (The ASCII version still exists as redirect). In ictu oculi (talk) 23:52, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
