Talk:D.I.C.E. Award for Outstanding Achievement in Character
Who could be the characters and actors at the 9th and 11th IAA?
editJust a little topic I'd like to talk about regarding the records for the 9th and 11th awards ceremony for Outstanding Character Performance, Male and Female. It stinks that there's not much referencing record of exactly what character was nominated for this category, although we can only make educated guesses at this point (until we finally find the proper citations). I was able to find out that Dawn Star (performed by Kim Mai Guest) was the character nominated in Jade Empire for female performance at the 9th ceremony. We already have records of Ellen McLain's performance for GLaDOS winning the award.
Here are my best guesses:
9th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards
Outstanding Character Performance - Female
- Gun: Kath Soucie as Jenny (the only female character in the game)
- Need for Speed: Most Wanted: Josie Maran as Mia Townsend (the most prominent female character in the story of that game)
- Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones: Helen King as Farah (the most important female character)
Outstanding Character Performance - Male
- God of War: Terrence C. Carson as Kratos (who else could it be?!? He's the star of the game!)
- Gun: Thomas Jane as Colton "Cole" White (star of the game, big name Hollywood actor)
- Jade Empire: there are so many male characters, I honestly don't know who. Maybe Master Li, the villain of the game?
- Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath: Lorne Lanning as the Stranger (title character)
- Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory: Michael Ironside as Sam Fisher (star of game, who else could it be?)
11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards
Outstanding Character Performance
- BioShock: Armin Shimerman as Andrew Ryan (the game's villain, very strong and impactful speeches from this character)
- Heavenly Sword: Anna Torv as Nariko (game's main character, also does narration)
- Mass Effect: Commander Shepard (main character in the game, however have two voice actors, one for male and female).
- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune: Nolan North as Nathan Drake (star of game, who else could it be?)

- I don't want to presume anything without a credible source. Commander Shepard is the most concerning. If you can find evidence that supports any of these characters then go for it. The wayback machine (web.archive.org) is how I've been finding most my sources. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 21:16, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I understand. The list above is basically my "assumption", but not a confirmation. I'm hoping to find something that actually proves it. Tommybone32 (talk) 22:39, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
- What does the ceremony video for the 11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards say about the Outstanding Character Performance? MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 12:37, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- In the video, it was presented in one of those rushed montages, and they didn't mention the nominated characters by name. However, in that OA in Character montage, they did show brief clips with Andrew Ryan, Nariko, the voice of GLaDOS (which won), the male Commander Shepard, and Nathan Drake. So my assumption is quite on point. Tommybone32 (talk) 07:53, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- As much as I would like to say this confirms your assumption, it is still a very loose and broad interpretation of the characters that were nominated. The most we could probably do with this is make note(s) for each of the characters that were featured in the montage as speculation, but I'm worried that this does not meet guidelines for officially confirm them. I would be cautious about this. See if there are any news outlets that list the characters. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 18:57, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
