James vs. Ned
editThe "James Doyle" link as written led to an incorrect personage. There needs to be a separate, new entry for Ned Doyle, who is long dead.
Wow, this is one long piece of marketing copy with no useful information acme 16:27, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
I generally agree... There is some merit in listing the awards won and some of the famous ads, but there are a lot of "in recognition of"s and other real sales copy in there that shouldn't be in an Encyclopedia. I found the most important part of the article - ...and holds fast to Bill Bernbach’s founding principle that “Properly practiced creativity can make one ad do the work of ten.” - at the end. And worse, there's NO history of the agency. We skip straight from 1949 to 1986 - must have been a very boring 40 years...
I'd have to agree. For an article about the agency that supposedly single-handedly changed the world of advertising forever, and the people behind the Creative Revolution, this reads horribly like someone from the 2008 PR team wrote it. Maxplanar (talk) 21:41, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
I included the new paragraph at the request of Doris Willens, who described the page about DDB as "appallingly lacking in substance". Michael P. Barnett (talk) 20:42, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Since Doris is a writer and presumably better at that craft than many of us, perhaps she could log in and do something about it herself. -Sticks66 12:11, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
You know what I hate ?
editSince the photo at the top of the page (the one of Maurice Needham shaking of hand of some copywriter while some other bloke smiles cheesily) is at the top of the page, and since Facebook accesses WP content for some of its pages then the thumbnail that any one of DDB's 18,000 employees worldwide have on their FB profile if they list DDB Worldwide as their employer, is that pic. Not a shot of Bill Bernbach, not a shot of Ned Doyle or the more obscure Mac Dane. But a photo of Maurice Needham, a copywriter named Sandy Sulcer and some other bloke. How annoying is that for anyone from DDB ? Though I suppose the Needham, Harper & Steers side of that 28 year ago merger have the last laugh after all !!-Sticks66 13:06, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
