On vanity, note that editors are never included in articles. Alikvar's name merits no mention, even when unlinked rather than pointing to his userpage(!) as before. 08:46, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  1. Its a photo credit.
  2. I am not merely the "editor" I am IN THE PHOTO.
  3. I am not the one readding it so its not Vanity.
  4. please go do something constructive rather than waste your time starting a revert war.

Not only have I changed the photo, but this whole thing has been discussed on my talk page and the AK1200 page subsequent to an RFC on the subject. Themindset 18:33, 26 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

multi-platinum?

edit

This guy is multi-platinum? Is there a reference that substantiates that? He's charted one single, which peaked at 32. [1]. -- Mikeblas 15:02, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Take into account the DJ's that purchase his singles to mix in their own sets. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.17.209.130 (talk) 20:12, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced, notability not established

edit

Despite an extensive description promoting this person, there is no reference given for any of the facts provided. links to nonnotable online magazines dont count. Its exhausting seeing all the unreferenced promotional articles at WP, with no one reading or writing them doing anything. I have nothing against this person, hes probably a great DJ, but we need refs. if i cant find any, i will trim back the article to basics. he doesnt even have a link to his record label article, which is a total data dump, no indication of notability there at all. come on fans, do some work here.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:46, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

references cited for rewrite from these two sources

edit

Two sources have been used for references in this edit, Allmusic (Allmusic (previously All Music Guide, AMG) is a service of music guide, owned by All Media Guide. Allmusic was founded in 1991, by popular-culture archivist Michael Erlewine as a guide for consumers. Its first reference book was published the following year. AMG on the Internet predates the World Wide Web and was first available as a Gopher site. The site was launched in 1995 as an online demonstration for potential database licensees of the breadth of content included in the database.)

And Discogs (a website and database of information about music recordings, including commercial releases, promotional releases, and bootleg or off-label releases. The Discogs servers, currently hosted under the domain name discogs.com, are owned by Zink Media, Inc., and are located in Portland, Oregon, USA. Discogs is one of the largest online databases of electronic music releases and is believed to be the largest online database of releases on vinyl media. Across all genres and formats, 1.7 million releases are catalogued, featuring listings for nearly 1.3 million artists and over 140,000 labels.) I have inserted footnote references, hopefully correctly.Records_One (talk) 06:08, 14 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

yes, those are excellent references to establish that he EXISTS. exactly how notable he is, though, cannot be determined by those links. I will, however, be the first to admit that its gonna get harder and harder to reference modern artists who get their notability from nontraditional sources, ie myspace, websales, etc. Mercurywoodrose (talk) 02:48, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have now included direct links to DJ Icey albums that have charted in various Billboard national charts to establish notability per the Wikipedia Notability guidelines. Records_One (talk) 12:29, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

ok, i see the references to billboard chartings. I am not an expert at the minutae of who gets notability for music, so this is now out of my hands, but i suspect this is enough. im not gonna worry about it, notability as far as i understand seems to have been met. thanks.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:32, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think the current photo is a very good visual representation of the artist. Good job to whoever took it / uploaded it for the article. Thanks. 24.130.33.45 (talk) 05:26, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
