• Support. Not an acronym/initialism, but an intentional misspelling, so lowercase per MOS:TM, MOS:CAPS / WP:NCCAPS, MOS:ABBR. This is exactly the same sort of case as Chvrches (stylized CHVRCHES) and Client (band) (stylized CLIEͶT), and also similar to others like The Weeknd, Grindr, Tumblr, Kesha (stylized Ke$ha), etc. (though I'm not sure if any of the latter sort also like to, or formerly liked to, stylize in "MARKETING ALL-CAPS").  — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼  15:59, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Strong oppose. The WP:COMMONNAME for the group is DNCE. I'm finding this move request by way of the ongoing style discussions listing. I'm the editor that submitted the move request for Artms (mentioned above by User:162 etc.) and I concur that this is the same concept. A Yahoo News article posted yesterday observes the DNCE stylization, as does a majority of the sources already linked in this article. I am not going to relink them all here just to make a point, but you should take a look at all of them. Do any of them not observe the stylization, in either title or the body of the article?

In addition to the sources accepted in this article either majority or unanimously using the name of DNCE, streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, all use the DNCE stylization, and the group appears to clearly and consistently identify/refer to themselves using this stylization (see SNS profiles on X ,Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), and refer also to their official website. 122141510 (talk) 19:03, 29 July 2024 (UTC)

The article says it's "eye dialect for Dance", not an abbreviation, so the all-caps styling is a purely stylistic thing which we don't follow (just as we don't use italics, small caps or whatever other gimmicks artists might come up with for marketing purposes).   From the examples to that rule, it seems to apply to stuff such as digits in names, not to all-caps. According to the same section, all-caps are only "preferred if the letters are pronounced individually". We seem to agree that this is not the case here. Gawaon (talk) 19:42, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

  The section you're citing is speciying a situation where the use of all caps is preferred, but does not say that is the only situation where it is preferred. Changed to oppose, because the sources found by 162 etc. indicate that the preferred pronunciation is letter-by-letter (D-N-C-E), which calls for all-caps. Gawaon (talk) 21:07, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
