editHe was not a baron. The noble family von Daldorff was extinct a century before his birth, and they were not barons.
In his (cited) article of the scarabs he writes his latinized name: Dagoberti Caroli de Daldorff. The 'de' is the german 'von' (pronounced 'fon'), 1760-1860 Danish officers were ordered to add th 'von' to their names!
'Ingobart' must be a mistake.
His obituarist (cited) writes that he was born in the 1760'es in or around Moskva in Russia, i.e. he does not know. The court was in St Petersborg, and all Germans were expelled from there 1762, and there is no trace of any Daldorff around that time. All the other biographers cited write: Born in Kiel. 195.249.232.63 (talk) 16:34, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
